So, my first blog entry.

Feels a little strange to be writing one of these! I am predominantly gonna use this space to recommend bands that I have been listening to/playing at Slam Dunk they you may not have already heard. And so the first suggestion:

MAN OVERBOARD

FFO - The Wonder Years, The Early November.

Hailing from what seems to be the birthplace of almost every good pop punk band ever, New Jersey's Man Overboard are fast becoming one of my favourite bands of the moment, which is infinitely helped by the release of the new (and first proper) full length, Real Talk. This band are so rad for so many reasons I don't really know where to start explaining it to you. They have a kind of rustic pop punk sound that is reminiscent of when Drive-Thru records used to be the dogs bollocks, but without sounding dated or left behind. Thi s is proper geeky pop punk and I love it, its like Hidden In Plain View without the screams, or The Earl y November without the huge soundscapes, or Home Grown without the farting around (don't get me wrong, I love all those bands, these aren't criticisms). But not in a bad way, its just striaght up and honest, no frills, no fucking around, no breakdowns(!). pure awesome - CHECK THEM OUT.

I'll keep this one short and sweet, but sure to check out MO and check back regularly for more news/recommendations. I'll be playing some MO at Slam Dunk every week for the forseeable future to see if you having been paying attention!
